Department of Communication and Media

Why Study Communication and Media?

Communication is fundamental to how we understand each other, organizations, movements, and different countries and cultures. As a Communication and Media major or minor, you’ll take courses integrating critical theory and real-world practice to prepare you for careers or further education in communication and beyond.

Our goal is to develop sophisticated producers and consumers of communication who understand how messages influence everyday life, culture, and public opinion. Our graduates are able to critically analyze oral, written and visual communication.

Why Communication and Media at Merrimack?

  • Students have the opportunity to construct their own curriculum based on personal interests that may include environmental, organizational, visual, intercultural, health and mass communication.
  • A nationally recognized faculty devoted to both teaching and scholarship.
  • Video and audio production spaces connect students with the digitized formats used in current media-production operations.
